On this day the 12th day of April 2019, Swazi workers organized under the Swaziland Electricity Supply, Maintenance and Allied Workers Union (SESMAWU) and the Amalgamated Trade Union of Swaziland (ATUSWA) welcomed the General Secretary and Sub-Sahara Africa Regional Secretary Cde Valter Sanchez and Paule Ndessomin respectively as representatives of IndustriALL which is a Global Union within which SESMAWU and ATUSWA are affiliates. The leadership of IndustriALL comes at a time when our unions are under attack from different fronts.
The workers of Eswatini are encouraged that IndustriALL has been properly briefed about developments within the sectors where ATUSWA and SESMAWU are organizing. While we appreciate and recognize that the workers of Swaziland have a duty to build their own unions, it gives us courage that international solidarity is guaranteed.
We wish the IndustriALL leadership safe journey and success as they continue to crisscross the region and in their endeavor to unite workers of the world. The leadership can rest assured that in Swaziland they have willing affiliates; prepared to dirty their hands in building a strong united workforce within the region.
